Valentine’s Outfits + Date Ideas

Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s day with your girlfriends, or thinking of things to do with your SO next week, I’ve got you covered! Below I’ve curated a few of my favorite outfits along with ideas I’m mulling over for this upcoming holiday ❤ ❤ ❤

At Home

This will probably be the most likely setting for our Valentine’s Day celebration (if you like low-key homebody activities 😉 ). Also, I am obsessed with this adorable little lounge set from AKG. First of all, it is locally made/designed, and the fabric is comfortable and so breathable! I’m not much of a lace lingerie girl, so for this occasion I wanted to find something modest, comfortable, and still feminine (and I can continue wearing this for the months to come!). Take a peek below for some date ideas, as well as links to what I’m wearing.

Home Date:

1.  Valentine’s Picnic Basket from Scanway (available February 10 – 19, 2017)

Who doesn’t love to have a romantic indoor picnic in their warm and cozy living room? You can choose between a number of options, plus they really got me when I read tenderloin, truffle, chocolate, and florentines. Pair it with your favorite bottle of wine, and you’ll be good to go. Yum.

2. Spa Night

Pamper yourselves by grabbing your favorite bath products, scented candles etc. and prepare to have a relaxing night in. See some of my favorite products below:

Blackberry Bath Bomb – Lush

Soft Coeur Massage Bar – Lush

Fresh Fig Honey Bath – Laura Mercier

Cocoa Butter Body Butter – The Body Shop

Tantra Massage Oil – Saje

3. Weekend Getaway at Atlantica Oak Island

Bring your pjs for the weekend and prepare for an ultimately relaxing getaway. Have breakfast in bed, take cooking lessons, go wine tasting, and do yoga together.

What I’m Wearing:

Chloe Bralette – AKG

Kate Brief  – AKG

*find them in-store at Makenew on 2468 Agricola St.

Casual

dsc_1924dsc_1930

Okay, this blouse totally caught my eye when I first saw it – it carries the embroidery trend feel but uses velvet flowers instead! I paired it with a denim bottom to dress it down, but added a fun sandal heel (don’t you LOVE the faux fur?! I couldn’t help myself when I saw these babies online 😉 ). Obviously if you are doing an outdoor activity, I would recommend changing up the footwear to match the weather, but these were too fun to not share! Take a peek below for some date ideas, as well as links to what I’m wearing.

Casual Date:

1. Valentine’s Food Crawl

What is more fun than reminiscing with your sweetheart while chowing down on a Valentine’s themed food crawl? There are at least 20 stops, and under $10 at each location ❤

2. The Coast’s Valentine’s Doughball

A one hour dessert & wine tasting session from 11 local vendors – need I say more?

3. Curling Tournament of Broken Hearts – Good Robot

If you’re looking for something more active with a quirky theme, grab your friends (or another couple) and get your curl on!

What I’m Wearing:

Devore Plunge Swing Top – TOPSHOP

Helena Straight Leg Jean – GRLFRND

Vamp Faux Fur Sandal – Zara (find similar ones here and here)

Dressy

dsc_1902dsc_1908dsc_1910dsc_1888dsc_1900

Here I wanted to share my take on “dressier” outfits without wearing a dress or skirt (while we’re still braving the cold winter, I’d much rather stick to pants 🙂 ). I love the play on feminine details with the wider sleeves, peek of skin, and softer tones, plus these are two outfits you can also bring into the Spring season! Take a peek below for some date ideas, as well as links to what I’m wearing.

Dressy Date:

1. Decadence – Savour Food & Wine Festival

Start your Valentine’s weekend off indulging at the Decadence event as part of the Savour Food & Wine Festival. I mean you really can’t go wrong when there’s cheese, chocolate, AND wine pairings involved.

2. Feeling the Love Dinner & Dance

A Valentine’s soiree for couples, singles, and friends – think funk, jazz, and cocktails!

What I’m Wearing:

Edie Flute Sleeve Top – TOPSHOP

Domme Pant – Club Monaco

Ivette Sandal – Jimmy Choo

Brax Jimpsuit – Wilfred

Mod Tapestry Pouch – Wilfred

Street Chic

It’s been two weeks overdue, but here is the outfit I wore to opening night of Atlantic Fashion Week (AFW) on Oct 2nd. AFW has now finished their 8th season with the mission to support local upcoming and well-known fashion designers in the Atlantic Canada  region such as Veronica MacIsaac, Orphanage, Zafira Apparel, just to name a few. I didn’t attend closing night, but for the opening night my favorites included:

Donn Sabean: Gorgeous one-of-a-kind, hand-dyed, and hand-printed dresses/silky pants floated down the runway as if I was heading on vacation to an exotic location. She pulls some of her inspirations from ethnic dress and the iconic 70s flower child.

MJM (Maggie J. MacCormick): Adorable and whimsical pieces that I need in my closet, and reminds me of fun tennis wear with a nautical touch!

Clutch Culture: Effortlessly cool models walk the runway, showcasing a collection of clutches and men’s bags with a mixture of prints, textiles, and colors.

What I’m Wearing: Phaedra Bootie – Michael Kors // Colorblocked Pant – Wilfred (Aritzia) // Black Knit Tank – Aritzia // Gold Choker – Michael Kors // Gold Cuffs – Etsy // Black Leather Jacket – Michael Kors // Tan & Black Clutch – Marciano

Fall Love

Because I am wearing pumps at work every day, I try to give my feet a break on my days off (although I cannot resist heeled ankle booties </3). I’m also very particular with my flat footwear, and I find it hard to find the perfect fashion-worthy flats to go with my weekender outfits, but I’m happy to say I am in love with these Loeffler Randall  espadrilles I picked up during the summer! If you haven’t seen already, I mentioned these gorgeous perforated flats in one of my latest posts on my favorite summer shoe trends.

Above, I am holding my current favorite everyday handbag: the Novelty Miranda in Suntan, by Michael Kors. It is probably one of my more expensive handbags, but so worth it (you can shop for more of his collection items here)! And if you haven’t noticed, I’m actually quite a huge fan of crop tops and here, I paired it with an adorable peplum skirt by Wilfred at Aritzia. Although, I don’t tend to actually put on what I tie around my waist, I find it adds that final touch to your outfit; almost like your accessories do. It also has the possibility of being a more functional accessory, as you can actually put it on if it gets chillier during the day.

What I’m Wearing: Espadrille Flat – Loeffler Randall // Peplum Skirt – Wilfred at Aritzia // Chambray Button Up – Mendocino // Grey Crop Top – Brandy Melville // Pleather Cap – Little Burgundy Shoes

Study By Day -> Party By Night // Getting Back-To-School Ready with Envy Clothing Company

I am SO excited to announce my latest (and so far biggest!) collaboration with Envy Clothing Company to get you fashion ready for this upcoming semester! This fall we’re aiming to get you up to date on comfortable (but stylish) outfits for studying, as well as prepping you for party mode at the same time! In their window display, I will be showing you my favorite picks for back-to-school outfits for every kind of girl whether you’re boho style, sports inspired, preppy, a trendy gal, or street chic. And of course different fashion personalities will also have different party outfits, so look out for my picks for your nights out!

Here above, I’m showing you one of my ‘Study By Day -> Party By Night’ outfits that will be featured in this weeks window display. For a street chic inspired study mode, I am wearing the most comfortable Paige Boyfriend Jean paired with a French Connection sheer white tee, and a checkered Audrey button up (in case it gets chilly in the library!). I topped it off with a moto inspired biker jacket by Only and a functional and cute drawstring satchel by French Connection. For the bar scene, I am wearing a Solemio white crop with cut outs and a zipped back, as well as a skinny black zip pant by Dex. This was actually one of my favorite personalities to outfit so much that I was having such a hard time narrowing pieces down because there were so many in store! Go check out the Envy locations by the end of the week to see more of my back-to-school outfit picks and more new fall pieces they will have in-store!

Look out for my next post this week, where I will be ft. my day outfitting mannequins for the ‘Study By Day -> Party By Night’ back-to-school fall window display!

xoxo

Sunny Days, Chambray & Watercolor Skirts

DSC_0382

To continue with my obsession with pretty pastels/my love of all skirts and skorts, I pulled out my Stylestalker watercolor print skirt to match the pretty weather on a sunny day last week! I find Halifax weather is so unpredictable as it is constantly fluctuating throughout the week, so I try to dress up for summer whenever I get the chance. Also for summer, I am loving clogs and wedges as they look great and are easy to walk around in! If you’re not an every day heel-wearer, I would recommend upgrading to a wedge before going for the pumps. Especially with work, you don’t want to look like you’re struggling in your shoes near the end of the day, and for the office jobs, I would recommend bringing your heels to work and wearing flats during transit! At least for summer you’re not stuck wearing mismatched winter boots, and can throw on a pretty sandal on your way to work!

What I’m Wearing: Watercolor Skirt – Stylestalker, Brown Strappy Wedge – Aldo, Double Strap Belt – H&M, Chambray Button Up – Mendocino, Camila Sunglasses – Michael Kors, Cream & Gold Clutch – Vintage

Spring Pastels

I can’t believe it’s been over a month since my last blog post! Things have been crazy for me with a new work transition and flying back and forth from Toronto to Halifax! I have been loving the runways rocking light pastels and white bottoms for Spring, so I thought I would show you two of my everyday favorites. Here I am wearing one of the most comfortable sleeveless blouses from Aritzia, and it has the back slit which I am a huge fan of! Having a more slender body type, I like to buy clothes that work well with my figure, and I find that the pieces from Aritzia tend to fit me almost 100% of the time. I guess that’s why I frequent it so much! Also, high waist pants (or jeans like above) are a great way to elongate your legs. Although white jeans can get dirty easily, they are essential to your wardrobe, like a little black dress is (in my opinion of course)! It adds a fresh take on those everyday blues and it naturally draws attention to your outfit. And while we’re talking about pieces that may not be as functional but are definitely worth investing in, I added my gorgeous clutch to finish off the outfit from 9September on http://www.etsy.com. I absolutely love the quality of the bag and it came with the option of having a detachable wrist strap and cross-body chain! It’s the perfect little clutch to transition into the summer months!

What I’m Wearing:

Wilfred Pyramides Blouse – Aritzia

White Avedon Ankle – Citizens of Humanity

Large Clear Transparent Clutch – 9September on Etsy

Spring Ready

Some of my favorite pieces from Aritzia and Michael Kors! I am so ready for spring!

#Valentine’sDay

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day! Whether you’re celebrating this holiday or not, it’s a great excuse to whip out the chocolate and gorge on sweet delicious foods you would otherwise never include in your pantry. The hubby and I actually celebrated this past Tuesday with a delicious 3 course meal at a local steak and seafood house (Ryan & Duffy’s). Really, it was our excuse to have a cheat meal in the middle of the week when we usually have it on Saturdays!

Anyway, I actually love dressing men. I find that although everyday men’s fashion may not have as much selection as women’s (ie. strapless, crop tops, etc.)  there is a lot of detail that goes into a man’s outfit. The fact that Matt loves shopping as much as I do, is a HUGE bonus for me! I don’t think I could date a guy who didn’t like fashion (or at least didn’t appreciate it!).  And since it’s Valentine’s Day, J and I decided it was time for a couples outfit post. It took us some time to adjust to having a third person in the mix, but it was a good learning experience, and helpful for more pairings to come!
