Fall/Winter 1

Who doesn’t love a textured knit and a well tailored Fall coat? It’s so silly, but I literally count down the days from the beginning of Summer until I can pull out my layering pieces from storage.. Anyways, the last few months have been crazy busy with the wedding (we got married after 6 years!), the fact that Matt & I just found out we are officially moving to Toronto in 2018 (going home!), and the usual work stuff, so I’ve been a little MIA… I will definitely share a wedding post as soon as I get the pictures back from the photog though.  Anyways back to the outfits – below I’ve showcased my 3 favorite Fall/Winter wool coats with various outfit pairings. I love the tailored menswear trend (and also anything slightly oversized really, as you can see from my second look). These pieces I consider to be classics that you can easily dress up or down, and definitely worth the investment as they will never go out of style. Check out a few looks I’ve been sporting this Fall below:

Summer With JORD + Giveaway

2

I don’t think I’ve ever gone a day in the year without wearing a watch – in my opinion, it is an essential fashion accessory with the added functionality as well. So when I discovered JORD, it was a great addition to my wardrobe as I’ve never owned a wooden watch before!

3

I am all for neutrals and very minimal/clean looks, so naturally, I gravitated towards the Frankie in Koa & Ash – I loved the more masculine fit and the darker face adds a uniqueness to the look (you can also shop different looks and sizes here). I paired it with an all-white ensemble (with minor details) for a casual Summer weekender look. To transition this look into the upcoming Fall season, you can easily pair your outfit with a staple leather jacket or trendy bomber (like I’ve done above). Needless to say, I will be taking this watch with me into the upcoming Fall and Winter seasons!

More excitingly, JORD and I have partnered together to offer you a giveaway for a $75 e-gift card to put towards your favorite watch! To enter the contest click here, and everyone who enters gets $20 for just entering! The giveaway ends Sunday August 14th, so the winner will be contacted that day! Good luck everybody! 🙂

xo!

Spring – Summer Transitioning

In this post I wanted to show you guys a few of my latest work/weekender outfits, and pieces that have been on rotation in my closet! I find the Halifax weather is ever-changing; it can be hot and humid one day, and then cool and foggy the next – which is why I love having versatile pieces in my wardrobe to make that easy transition.

With this look and below, I’ll be sharing my top picks for items to invest in for the upcoming seasons:

Shirt Dresses & Tan Suede Booties

unnamed (9)

I picked up this easy throw-on denim shirtdress from Top Shop, and I love it because of the slight asymmetrical patchwork detail (which makes it a little more unique than the other shirt dresses I currently own). The great thing about this button up is that it can easily transition from Spring to Fall, by wearing it as a dress, a shirt over a skinny jean, or wearing it open as a layering piece over your outfit. The tan cut out booties I adore! They were a steal from Zara, and a good shoe option to have in my collection 🙂

What I’m Wearing: Patchwork Denim Dress – Top Shop (find similar ones here, here, and here) / Suede Cut-Out Booties – Zara (find similar ones here, here, and here)/ Lovesome Sunglasses – Gentle Monster

unnamed (12)

Staple Leather Jacket

DSC_1410

You’ve probably heard this time and time again (and it’s 100% true) – a leather jacket can never go out of style. It’s a great hybrid fall/spring jacket alternative that will add that extra oomph to your outfit! Plus with all the different color options, suede vs. leather, patchwork, moto, collarless etc. options, you really have no excuses but to invest in a quality product.

What I’m Wearing: Karan Jacket – Mackage / Arlenis Blouse – Wilfred Free at Aritzia / Jude Skirt – Babaton at Aritzia / Erlina Sandal – Schutz

Lightweight Denim & Summer Knits

unnamed (2)unnamed (7)

If you haven’t noticed in the last few outfits, a trend I’ve been loving during the Spring (and into Summer) is lightweight denim. It’s cut and the fabric composition is more similar to look and feel like cotton and/or linen – which is a huge plus for me for the breathability and lightness of the fabric. There are SO many great options to choose from when it comes to anything that’s denim or similar, and easy to layer on for Fall.

Check out some of my affordable online favorites below:

On another note, I also LOVE summer knits – it adds texture and an element of softness to an outfit. Plus who doesn’t like to wear sweaters all year round?

What I’m Wearing: Sage Short – Wilfred Free at Aritzia / Montero Jacket – Wilfred Free at Aritzia / Belfort Sweater – Wilfred at Aritzia (similar one here, here, and here)

unnamed (3)

Culottes & Summer Knits Cont’

Summer knits are perfect as they come in so many different textures and silhouettes (can be slinky and mold to your body shape, or they can be boxy yet soft at the same time). Here and above you’ll see two different sweater cuts that are both just as playful and fun! Test your fabrics this summer by mixing and matching until you get the combination that works best for you – for me, I love mixing in suede (or vegan suede) like with the culotte below (another find from Zara). While your at it, also try to mix your shapes and volume – for example: small top with a voluminous bottom and vice versa.

What I’m Wearing: Vegan Suede Culotte – Zara (similar one here or here), Cayenne Knit Top – Wilfred at Aritzia

THE COAST – Spring Fashion Issue

IMG_4025

In case you missed it, a few weeks ago I had a fantastic opportunity to shoot for the Spring Fashion Issue for The Coast. It was so much fun and I got to share some of my fashion philosophies and favorite trends for this season (I’ll share more below!).

You can access the digital copy issue (through PressReader) here.

The Coast is a locally owned and free newspaper that covers anything and everything Halifax, from fashion to culture and events, food, current news and more! The cover was shot by Meghan T. Whitton and makeup by Emily A. Moore – you can see more of their work on contact info via the links at the bottom of this post!

During the interview, I was able to reflect on how Lovebyelle started, and speak to working within the fashion industry in a number of roles. I also spoke about a few of my current favorite designers: AKG, Maggie MacCormick, and Sarah Sears (and I am wearing pieces from all three favorites in the photos). Here are snippets from the article below:

Her Fashion Philosophy – “Don’t be afraid to try styles that you would never think of. It’s the things you’d never think of pairing together that look the best,” says Yeung, who says that though she’s had a lifelong interest in fashion, she never pictured making a career of it. “I always say, do what you like. Your style is an expression of your personality. If I want to wear white in winter I will. I don’t go by fashion rules, I do what I want.”

Her Favorite Springs Trends – “Right now, I’m all about curating my outfits with a peek of neutral suede piece – ’70s inspired suede is back in with the A-line skirts, cropped jackets and fun boxy dresses.” says Yeung of what she’ll be pulling from her closet this season. A forever fan of monochromatic dressing, she’s also digging lightweight denim, whether it’s wide-leg pants, a pencil skirt or a kimono jacket. And for a touch of romance – the exposed shoulder top. “Try my favourite style – the off-the shoulder blouse, paired with an airy culotte.”

What I’m Wearing: The Artist Dress – AKG // The Pencil Crop – Maggie MacCormick // Criss Cross Ring, Loop Bangles, Piya Choker, Finger Tipper Ring – Sarah Sears

FLARE 2016 May Issue

If you haven’t done so yet, you should pick up a copy of this month’s issue of FLARE. I mean, who isn’t obsessed with Shay Mitchell – she is freaking gorgeous and her style is on point (browse her IG here)!

Another bonus is you get to check out the localist team’s picks for the month of May, and I have to say, they are pretty sweet : ) If you flip a page over, you’ll see this month’s localist feature is about one of our own cool girls right from the city of #Halifax.

Spring Looks

I always love Spring and Fall (more-so Fall) because you have the option of wearing layers or having none at all. It’s also a great time to try out your separates in different combinations to refreshen your Spring looks! Here are three different types of looks I’ll be sporting this season (with the dressier, casual, and everything in-between):

unnamed (8)

A neutral drapey trench is a must have this season with it’s versatility – you can basically add it onto any outfit whether you’re heading to work, to travel, or any event. While we’re at it, I added on a nude suede skirt which is trending for Spring fashion. 70’s inspired suede pieces are back, but with an elevated feel!

What I’m Wearing: Lawson Trench Coat from Babaton at Aritzia / Nathaniel Sweater from Babaton at Aritzia / Hopper Skirt from Babaton at Aritzia / Avery Trainers from Senso / Lovesome One Sunglasses at Gentle Monster

unnamed (2)unnamedunnamed (1)

If you haven’t noticed yet, I am obsessed with SENSO footwear! Lately, I have been living in these Avery trainers because they look great and feel comfortable especially when I’m on my feet most of the day (huge win!). I also love this leather choker by local designer Sarah Sears. This was my first piece from her latest collection and I have to say I am hooked, and cannot wait to see what she has in store 🙂

What I’m Wearing: Moto Inspired Jacket by Wilfred at Aritzia (similar one here and here) / Metrocles Dress by Community at Aritzia / Low Rise Crop by J Brand / Piya Choker by Sarah Sears (find it here and here in Brass, Silver, or Oxidized Silver)

unnamed (5)unnamed (3)

I have to say wide legged pants and culottes are probably my favorite kind of bottoms – they are very comfortable, and they look fantastic! A lot of people always ask me whether they are too short for a wider leg and I always tell them it’s not necessarily their height – it’s pairing it with the right footwear and sometimes finding the right length of pant that comfortable suits them.

What I’m Wearing: Palmier Sweater by Wilfred at Aritzia / Eckhardt Pant by Babaton at Aritzia / White Loafer by Shellys London (similar one here and here) / Saxon Watch by Larsson & Jennings

FLARE 2016 February Issue

I am beyond excited to be sharing with you this month’s Localist feature in FLARE’s February issue! If you haven’t noticed yet, there is a theme of romance threaded throughout, and this month is especially meaningful to me as I am also getting hitched this upcoming September (so I may need to steal an idea or two from here!). Also just as exciting, Ilana and Abbi from Broad City are also featured on the cover of this month’s Love + Sex Issue!
