Fall Accessorizing

In case you haven’t noticed – this Fall, hats are trending in full force. Whether it’s the fiddler caps, newsboy caps, bakerboy hats, or berets, it is the it accessory of this season (plus has the added bonus of keeping your head warm!). If you haven’t done so already, try adding some headwear to your look!

I was always unsure about wearing hats + hair accessories because I have a larger-than-average head (and round face 😉 ), and then I realized this year I just wasn’t looking hard enough! I found this beret at a local consignment store – Elsie’s, and it was exactly what I was looking for. Needless to say, I now have a bunch of different hats on the go, and I don’t think I’m about to stop ❤

What I’m Wearing: Beret – Elsie’s (similar one here, and here) // Adele Blouse – Wilfred at Aritzia (similar one here, and here) // Cauchy Pant – Wilfred at Aritzia (similar one here, and here) // Loafer – Zara (similar one here, and here) // Lou Camera Bag – Saint Laurent

Fall Styling with Tobi

Okay, I swear I have the worst immune system, or I’m just reallyyy susceptible to getting sick! I’ve been feeling under the weather the last week, probably because I’ve also been working a lot as we’re heading into the holidays. Also, if any of you have any good cold remedies, I am all ears!

Thankfully, I own a lot of layers as well as easy-to-layer pieces, so I’m ready to brave the cooler elements. This Fall season, I’ve collaborated with Tobi to show you how I’m currently styling my wardrobe for the transitional weather. Scroll down to see a few of my favorite pieces from their collection, and how I’m wearing it –

Take an every day slip/wrap/summer dress, and layer it on to create a different look. I like the layered effect of Tobi’s shift dress over a mockneck with an easy pair of denim. There’s a perfect amount of color contrast, and it keeps you warm at the same time. Add your favorite leather, some staple accessories, and you’ll be good to go!

What I’m Wearing: All Saint’s Balfern Jacket // Aritzia Seaton Shirt // Tobi Hannah Shift Dress // GRLFRND Helena Crop (similar one here, here, or here) // Zara Embossed Ankle Boot // YSL Camera Bag // Brixton Fiddler Fisherman’s Cap

I mean, who doesn’t love a comfy, oversized knit? This sweater checks all the boxes in terms of: 1) the look 2) fit (the bigger the better) 3) comfort (duh.) 4) details (bell sleeves!). Take your chunky oversized knit, and pair it with a skirt with interesting details like the asymmetrical wrap skirt I paired underneath.  Again for this season,I think accessories are everything and can completely enhance your look. Because I’m always moving around at work, I find my hair always gets in the way, so I tend to tie it up a lot (… also I’m lazy sometimes!). Lately, I’ve been trying to style my hair more often hence allowing me to wear more hats/hair accessories, and  really I’m loving it!

New Developments: The Minimalist Edit

For the past few months I’ve been working on a special rebranding project with Kaylyn (from Gold Prism Creative), and I’m excited to share the results with all of you very soon! When I first started blogging, I had no idea what I was doing, and I did not have a clear direction of where I wanted to go with it. It was a hobby I enjoyed during my spare time, and I definitely learned a lot along the way! Over the years I found my style changing/evolving, and I’m finally working towards a new blogging direction that suits my aesthetic. Keep an eye out for some major changes come to you this November!

On another note, I shot this look a few weeks back (when it wasn’t as warm). I mean, who doesn’t love a matching sweatsuit? Keep scrolling to see what I’m wearing below! 🙂

I mean minus this weekend because it’s supposed to rain, but I’m so glad I can now hit the beach, and have dinner & drinks on a patio! I also just found out I’m going on a last minute trip to Barcelona in 2 weeks, so keep an eye out on my IG for my adventures there!

What’s Trending

This post is longgg overdue! I meant to post it prior to leaving for my honeymoon over a month ago, but time got the best of me 😦 Anyways, I’m thinking of starting a series along the lines of my favorite popular trends (for that specific season), and show how I would style it! I’ll have my usual outfit posts in between, but I’ll also add an additional one every couple of posts, with my round up of favorite trends? Still working the idea out in my head clearly!

So the hubby and I just came back from being in the Amalfi coast for the last few weeks, and I am in DENIAL that it’s back to reality. I mean it’s great to be back to a routine, but we’ve definitely still got the travel bug (thinking NZ next…). Being in Italy again was amazing, and of course the food/views were fantastic! We definitely gained a few from all of the pasta/wine/seafood gorging we did, and are in dire need of a detox 🙂 If you’re planning on popping over there sometime in the future, feel free to shoot me a message, and I’ll get back to you with some of my favorite recommendations!

So anyways onto the post – I’ve shared my 3 favorite trends for the Spring season, but these can also be carried into the summertime as well!

Volume & Stripes

Think voluminous sleeves in a variety of fabrics, shapes, and details (ie. buttons, tassels, ties). I’ve also been seeing a lot incorporation of stripes or nautical features lately, which is perfect heading into the warmer months.

What I’m Wearing:

Niki Blouse – Babaton at Aritzia

Le Anchorage – FRAME (similar ones here, here, and here)

Lugano 40 mm Watch – Larsson & Jennings

Pointed Mule – Zara (similar ones here, and here)

Pajama Dressing

Ok, I’m sure you’ve heard me say this 1000 times, but I’m STILL in love with this trend! This look is chic, unique, comfortable, and versatile all at the same time. If going full on with the matching set and robe is too much for you, think about pairing the pieces apart from one another. There are so many options with this trend – ie. silky skirts, camisoles, shorts, button-ups, dresses, etc. Try pairing this fluid look with some structure, either in your footwear, or your purse.

What I’m Wearing:

Kearney Blouse – Babaton at Aritzia

Modesto Pant – Babaton at Aritzia

Mercier Jacket – Le Fou at Aritzia (similar ones herehere, and here)

If you didn’t notice yet, athletic dressing is back in, and oh so comfy! There are so many ways to incorporate a tearaway track pant, cool sports bra, bomber jacket, or baseball jersey, into an effortless streetstyle look.

What I’m Wearing:

Jamilla T-Shirt – Wilfred Free at Aritzia

Renfrew Bralette – Talula at Aritzia

Arbus Pant – 1-01 Babaton at Aritzia (similar one here, and here)

Logo Short Crew Socks – Calvin Klein

Marble Avery IV Sneaker – Senso (similar one here, here, and here)

Valentine’s Outfits + Date Ideas

Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s day with your girlfriends, or thinking of things to do with your SO next week, I’ve got you covered! Below I’ve curated a few of my favorite outfits along with ideas I’m mulling over for this upcoming holiday ❤ ❤ ❤

At Home

This will probably be the most likely setting for our Valentine’s Day celebration (if you like low-key homebody activities 😉 ). Also, I am obsessed with this adorable little lounge set from AKG. First of all, it is locally made/designed, and the fabric is comfortable and so breathable! I’m not much of a lace lingerie girl, so for this occasion I wanted to find something modest, comfortable, and still feminine (and I can continue wearing this for the months to come!). Take a peek below for some date ideas, as well as links to what I’m wearing.

Home Date:

1.  Valentine’s Picnic Basket from Scanway (available February 10 – 19, 2017)

Who doesn’t love to have a romantic indoor picnic in their warm and cozy living room? You can choose between a number of options, plus they really got me when I read tenderloin, truffle, chocolate, and florentines. Pair it with your favorite bottle of wine, and you’ll be good to go. Yum.

2. Spa Night

Pamper yourselves by grabbing your favorite bath products, scented candles etc. and prepare to have a relaxing night in. See some of my favorite products below:

Blackberry Bath Bomb – Lush

Soft Coeur Massage Bar – Lush

Fresh Fig Honey Bath – Laura Mercier

Cocoa Butter Body Butter – The Body Shop

Tantra Massage Oil – Saje

3. Weekend Getaway at Atlantica Oak Island

Bring your pjs for the weekend and prepare for an ultimately relaxing getaway. Have breakfast in bed, take cooking lessons, go wine tasting, and do yoga together.

What I’m Wearing:

Chloe Bralette – AKG

Kate Brief  – AKG

*find them in-store at Makenew on 2468 Agricola St.

Okay, this blouse totally caught my eye when I first saw it – it carries the embroidery trend feel but uses velvet flowers instead! I paired it with a denim bottom to dress it down, but added a fun sandal heel (don’t you LOVE the faux fur?! I couldn’t help myself when I saw these babies online 😉 ). Obviously if you are doing an outdoor activity, I would recommend changing up the footwear to match the weather, but these were too fun to not share! Take a peek below for some date ideas, as well as links to what I’m wearing.

Casual Date:

1. Valentine’s Food Crawl

What is more fun than reminiscing with your sweetheart while chowing down on a Valentine’s themed food crawl? There are at least 20 stops, and under $10 at each location ❤

2. The Coast’s Valentine’s Doughball

A one hour dessert & wine tasting session from 11 local vendors – need I say more?

3. Curling Tournament of Broken Hearts – Good Robot

If you’re looking for something more active with a quirky theme, grab your friends (or another couple) and get your curl on!

What I’m Wearing:

Devore Plunge Swing Top – TOPSHOP

Helena Straight Leg Jean – GRLFRND

Vamp Faux Fur Sandal – Zara (find similar ones here and here)

Here I wanted to share my take on “dressier” outfits without wearing a dress or skirt (while we’re still braving the cold winter, I’d much rather stick to pants 🙂 ). I love the play on feminine details with the wider sleeves, peek of skin, and softer tones, plus these are two outfits you can also bring into the Spring season! Take a peek below for some date ideas, as well as links to what I’m wearing.

Dressy Date:

1. Decadence – Savour Food & Wine Festival

Start your Valentine’s weekend off indulging at the Decadence event as part of the Savour Food & Wine Festival. I mean you really can’t go wrong when there’s cheese, chocolate, AND wine pairings involved.

2. Feeling the Love Dinner & Dance

A Valentine’s soiree for couples, singles, and friends – think funk, jazz, and cocktails!

What I’m Wearing:

Edie Flute Sleeve Top – TOPSHOP

Domme Pant – Club Monaco

Ivette Sandal – Jimmy Choo

Brax Jimpsuit – Wilfred

Mod Tapestry Pouch – Wilfred
